A Commercial/Small Business Underwriting Team Lead at the Business Banking Loan Center (BBLC) has the opportunity to directly impact our ability to meet the financial needs of our customers. This position is fully remote. The ideal candidate will will have the skills and experience necessary to:
· Be responsible for the preparation of credit narratives, pre-screens, incorporating spreads, statements of cash flow, the value of loan collateral, appraisals, audits and other data.
· Interpret the outcome of analysis and preparation of credit summaries, recommendations to Credit Approvers on renewals and new loans submitted for underwriting.
· Be responsible for evaluating, analyzing and forming opinions for the approving or denying of commercial, commercial RE and/or business banking loan applications.
· Be responsible for spreading financial statements, identifying credit strengths and weaknesses, providing detailed and documented analysis of credit worthiness.
· Ensure credit requests are processed in accordance with bank policies, banking regulations and laws.
· Proactively Identify the various risk and other mitigating factors related to conducting a thorough credit analysis for approval.
· Oversee a large commercial loan portfolio, including risk grade monitoring, problem loan reporting, loan covenant testing, real estate collateral reviews, pre-flight credit analysis on prospective loan requests, and ensure the timely delivery of the BBLC’s end-to-end underwriting and portfolio management processes.
· Update underwriting and portfolio management procedures, processes, and best practices guides in compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
· Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
· Provide other assistance as needed to resolve time-sensitive issues.
Qualifications:
· Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related field and 6+ years commercial, commercial real estate credit or small business underwriting, spread analysis, lending, underwriting concepts, practices and procedures or other directly related experience.
· A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
· Some leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
· Expert knowledge of commercial, commercial RE and/or business banking credit underwriting, spread analysis, lending, underwriting concepts, practices and procedures.
· Expert working knowledge of Business Banking, C&I and CRE loan requirements with the ability to identify risk and mitigating factors related to conducting a thorough credit analysis for approval.
· Expert knowledge of balance sheets, income and cash flow statements.
· Advanced understanding of commercial and/or small business lending policies and procedures and general banking laws and regulations.
· Ability to analysis and research financial statements, business plans, credit reports, debt ratios and loan to value information.
· Possess excellent judgment, ability to make sound decisions.
· Ability to accept responsibility and handle confidential information.
· Must have excellent customer relations and communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Must be a self-starter, dependable, accurate in completing responsibilities with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Strong working knowledge of a various related software applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, etc.
· Ability to lead or train lower- level staff.
· Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts.
· Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas.
· Ability to supervisor day to day functions/projects.

· Salary range - $92,625 to $135,850
