The Credit Examination Department is responsible for protecting the interest of shareholders of Zions Bancorporation by identifying credit activities that present significant business risks. We are seeking a Credit Examiner that will be responsible for planning and completing horizontal and targeted examinations and reviews of retail and small business loan portfolios as well as assessing the effectiveness of associated credit risk management systems and processes. This position requires experience employing risk-based examining techniques, including identifying, developing, and working through examination strategies. Candidates must have fundamental knowledge of credit administration processes along with an understanding of credit-related Federal Laws, Regulations, and regulatory guidance. This position requires the ability to organize, prioritize, and analyze data in order to identify existing or emerging systemic weaknesses or concerns. Candidates should possess.

 

This position will be located at our Zions Technology Center, Midvale, Utah office.

  • Analyzing credit risk in a wide range of consumer and small business loan products, and conducting credit examinations of the corporation’s loans.
  • Identifying credit and documentation risk, analyzing detailed financial data and quickly identifying evolving repayment risk patterns.
  • Testing for compliance with company policies, procedures and banking regulations.
  • Reviewing credit files for financial stability, cash flow, collateral accuracy, documentation and the borrowers to identify weaknesses.
  • Spreading and analyzing financial statements for ability to pay.
  • Determining appropriate risk grades.
  • Writing examination and management reports with meaningful conclusions and making recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
  • Follow up to determine that approved recommendations in examination reports are implemented and effective.
  • Leading or assisting other examiners as assigned.
  • Limited travel required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Proficient knowledge of consumer and small business loan products, including: 1-4 family residential mortgages, secured and unsecured personal loans, scored small business and SBA loans, consumer and commercial small business credit card products, auditing procedures, credit analysis, accounting standards, statistical analysis, legal requirements and government regulations.
  • Strong customer relations and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to provide credible challenge, make recommendations, and influence management based on sound conclusions.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a Bachelor's in Business, Finance or a related field 
  • 6+ years’ experience with credit analysis of consumer and small business loan products
  • Examination/audit or other directly related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

The position is located at the Zions Technology Center which is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site, the sustainably built campus will be the company’s primary technology and operations center.  This modern and environmentally friendly technology center will enable Zions to continue to compete for the best technology talent in the state while providing team members with an exceptional work environment with features such as:
