Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned risk professional to lead our Operational Risk Services team within the Operational Risk Management (ORM) department. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with leadership and teams across the Bank, gain exposure to the broad scope of our operations, and prepare and deliver updates to executive leadership and the Board on operational risk, emerging risks, and areas of heightened risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of experienced and highly motivated risk professionals.
  • Establish, oversee and reinforce the enterprise-wide Operational Risk Event Reporting Policy.  
  • Ensure strict adherence to our own programs, standards and processes through a formal quality assurance function performed on the second line independent oversight team. 
  • Perform a quarterly operational risk analysis using enterprise-wide data to identify themes, anomalies, emerging risks or signs of a systemic breakdown. 
  • Support the team in their facilitation of the annual COSO Self-Assessment and FIDICIA filing.
  • Lead and develop relationships with affiliate leaders through ORM/Affiliate Risk Series meant to gain insight into emerging risks, significant issues, material changes, etc.
  • Support the team in the development of reporting for the ORM team, committees and executives, as needed. 
  • Support the team who acts as an Operational Risk Partner for supply chain management workflows and any new initiatives or bank products. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field   
  • 8+ years’ experience in operational risk management or the financial services industry, or other related experience. 
  • A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
  • Requires experience leading and assessing a team of high performing professionals.
  • Advanced understanding of operational risk management techniques, practices, and concepts.
  • Experience in senior positions within the second or third line of defense.
  • Experience in the first line of defense preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams with complex objectives.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with all levels of management and staff, as well as outside regulators and auditors.
  • Proven capability to enhance and streamline existing processes, driving operational efficiencies.
  • Requires an exceptional degree of ingenuity, decision making, initiative and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver clear, well-structured presentations with little direction.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and present complex data sets, identify trends and patterns, and provide actionable insights to support risk management efforts.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with GRC platform (Archer) and reporting tools (Power BI) desired but not required.
