Multifamily Sr. Agency Originator – Multifamily Agency Lending
Zions Capital Markets is advancing a best-in-class multifamily lending platform as a bank-sponsored dual GSE license holder with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Supported by the strength, client relationships, and regional footprint of Zions Bancorporation, the platform delivers a comprehensive range of multifamily financing solutions across agency programs and CMBS executions, with a focus on scalable, client-driven lending strategies.
Team Overview
The Origination team is responsible for driving production, expanding market presence, and delivering tailored financing solutions across agency and capital markets channels. The business operates with a relationship-first approach, disciplined credit culture, and strong alignment across underwriting, capital markets, and servicing functions.
Role Summary
The Multifamily Sr. Agency Originator is a senior production leader responsible for originating significant loan volume, deepening strategic client relationships, and contributing to the overall growth and direction of the platform. This individual will serve as a market-facing leader, expected to generate consistent deal flow while also influencing strategy, mentoring junior team members, and enhancing the firm’s competitive positioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Production Leadership
- Originate and close high-volume multifamily agency transactions, with primary responsibility for individual production
- Maintain and expand relationships with institutional and private owners, developers, and key intermediaries
- Establish a strong market presence to drive repeat business and new client acquisition
- Collaborate with commercial banking partners to integrate coverage efforts and unlock cross-platform opportunities
- Build and actively manage a robust, forward-looking pipeline
- Structuring & Strategic Advisory
- Lead complex borrower engagements, providing strategic guidance on transaction structuring and execution
- Design financing solutions across agency and capital markets channels, aligning structure with client objectives and market conditions
- Navigate and negotiate sophisticated deal terms, serving as a trusted advisor to clients and counterparties
- Provide insight into market trends, pricing dynamics, and structural considerations
Market Leadership & Product Expertise
- Maintain deep expertise in Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and CMBS executions, including evolving program parameters
- Serve as a thought leader internally and externally, contributing to market positioning and client strategy
- Monitor competitive landscape and identify opportunities to differentiate the platform and expand market share
Risk & Governance Oversight
- Ensure transactions are aligned with firm-wide credit standards, agency guidelines, and regulatory expectations
- Exercise sound judgment in identifying, assessing, and managing transaction and portfolio risks
- Partner with underwriting and risk teams to balance production objectives with disciplined credit outcomes
- Maintain a strong focus on controls, documentation, and audit readiness
Platform Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a senior leader within the platform, helping to shape strategy, processes, and growth initiatives
- Mentor and develop junior originators, including Analysts, Associates, and Vice Presidents, fostering a high-performance culture
- Collaborate across Underwriting, Capital Markets, Servicing, and Banking teams to drive seamless execution
- Contribute to recruiting, platform buildout, and long-term organizational development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of commercial real estate lending or mortgage banking experience, with a strong emphasis on origination
- Proven track record of consistently generating and closing meaningful loan volume
- Extensive experience with multifamily agency lending and institutional capital sources

Location:
This role can be located anywhere in the U.S.
Pay Range (Depending upon relatable skills and experience): $150,000 - 300,000
