Multifamily Agency Originator – Multifamily Agency Lending

Zions Capital Markets is advancing a best-in-class multifamily lending platform as a bank-sponsored dual GSE license holder with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Supported by the strength, relationships, and regional footprint of Zions Bancorporation, the platform delivers a comprehensive range of multifamily financing solutions across agency programs and CMBS executions, with a focus on scalable, client-driven lending strategies

Team Overview

The Origination team is responsible for driving loan production, developing strategic client relationships, and delivering tailored financing solutions across multiple execution channels. The platform emphasizes a relationship-driven approach, disciplined credit standards, and seamless coordination across underwriting, capital markets, and servicing.

Role Summary

This role is designed for an experienced originator with a demonstrated ability to generate consistent deal flow, structure complex transactions, and maintain long-term client relationships. The position is primarily focused on individual production, with close collaboration across the broader bank and capital markets platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Origination
  • Source and close new multifamily lending opportunities for agency execution
  • Leverage existing relationships while actively cultivating new connections with owners, developers, brokers, and financial intermediaries
  • Partner with commercial banking teams to drive cross-platform referrals and deepen enterprise client engagement
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and manage transactions through closing
  • Structuring & Client Advisory
  • Lead borrower discussions to design and negotiate financing solutions that align with client objectives and program requirements
  • Structure transactions across multiple capital sources, selecting the optimal execution strategy based on market conditions and asset profile
  • Communicate complex financing alternatives in a clear, actionable manner to clients and stakeholders

 

Market & Product Expertise

  • Maintain deep knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and broader capital markets offerings
  • Stay current on program updates, pricing dynamics, and competitive trends to inform transaction structuring and client advice

Risk & Compliance Alignment

  • Ensure all transactions adhere to internal credit standards, regulatory expectations, and agency requirements
  • Identify potential risks early in the process and work collaboratively to mitigate or appropriately escalate issues
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to documentation, controls, and audit readiness

Platform Collaboration

  • Work closely with Underwriting, Capital Markets, Closing, and Servicing teams to ensure efficient and consistent execution
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance
  • Support broader strategic initiatives as the platform continues to scale

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 7+ years of commercial real estate lending or mortgage banking experience, with a strong focus on originations
  • Proven track record of successfully sourcing and closing transactions within multifamily or related asset classes
  • Experience with agency lending and other institutional capital sources strongly preferred

  • High level of organization and ability to manage an active pipeline in a production-driven environment
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across multiple internal teams and stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial approach with a focus on growing production and contributing to platform expansion

 

Location:

This role can be located anywhere in the U.S.

 

Pay Range (Depending upon relatable skills and experience): $125,000 - 225,000
