We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Application Architect with a strong focus on application stacks and development, CI/CD pipelines integration aspects, DevSecOps practices, and open-source technologies & tools. This role will play a critical part in designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions within the financial services and banking domains. You will work closely with cross functional teams across technology and operations as well lines of businesses to ensure alignment between technology strategies and business objectives.
As an Enterprise Architect you will embrace Zions leading and forward-looking Gen AI, AI/ML, Cloud and Next Generation Data enabling strategies and contribute your leadership to achieve that vision. You will be a catalyst for change, an advocate for the enterprise, and have a direct impact on Zions Bancorporation. You will guide creating new business insight and perspective, clarify and illuminate strategic goals and strategies, guide application strategy implementation, help analyze business capabilities, and identify synergistic opportunities
Responsibilities:
• Strategic Architecture Development: Design and define the enterprise application architectures to align with Zions’ digital transformation goals focusing on scalability, integration, performance and security
• Application Stack Expertise: Provide technical leadership in selecting, designing and integrating modern application frameworks, tools and platforms
• CI/CD Pipeline: Consult and partner in designing and optimization of continuous integration and deployment pipelines to enhance software delivery speed and reliability incorporating all necessary cloud controls and security aspects
• DevSecOps Implementation: Champion DevSecOps practices partnering across Zions Engineering and Development organizations, embedding security throughout the software development life cycle while maintaining agility and speed.
• Open-Source Integration: Evaluate, recommend and implement open-source technologies, tools and frameworks, ensuring compliance with enterprise governance policies addressing security risk attributes and IP related aspects
• Governance and Compliance: Ensure all architecture solutions meet regulatory requirements, including financial services compliance and data security standards
• Emerging technologies: Stay ahead of emerging industry technology trends, particularly within financial services, to recommend and incorporate cutting edge technologies into the organization’s ecosystem including AI/ML, Gen AI, Cloud and Next Generation data technologies
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Proven track record of influencing change and leading strategic enterprise IT initiatives to achieve well-defined business objectives
• Deep hands-on technical expertise in multiple technical domains with an emphasis and focused expertise on application development stacks, OSS, CI/CD and DevSecOps areas
• Experience with digital business transformation
• Ability to listen for understanding, resolve conflicts, negotiate compromise, and collaboratively lead business leaders and project teams to optimal solutions.
• Understanding of application architecture concepts that enable well-integrated transactional, analytical, and collaborative systems
• Ability to cultivate a shared strategic vision, articulate clear business objectives, and align the organization to achieve them
• Experience institutionalizing and implementing BIAN and TOGAF perspectives in application domains and mapping with business capabilities
• Exposure to Cloud Based management and operations is key as Zions moves towards a Cloud Native/Cloud-Based journey to become ‘Digital to the Core’
• 8 plus years of experience in enterprise architecture and IT leadership in a highly regulated environment
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, MIS or related field
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication. Ability to communicate effectively with business leaders and technical experts at all organizational levels.
• Business and IT financial management acumen
• Understanding of enterprise IT Service Management concepts
Plus:
• Ability to establish and lead IT Centers of Excellence
• Exposure to FFIEC, PCI-DSS, SOX and SOC Controls an advantage
• Understanding of Agile methodology
• Banking or other Financial Services experience
Location:
This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site, the sustainably built campus will be the company’s primary technology and operations center.
