Zions Bancorporation is accepting applications for a Data Analytics Staff Auditor to join Zions Internal Audit team. The position offers a 3/2 working schedule and is located in downtown Salt Lake City.
The mission of Internal Audit is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve Zions Bancorporation operations. The function of Internal Audit is to act as a partner with the groups we audit, providing third-party objective insights, suggestions and critique for long-term betterment of the group and Zions Bancorporation as a whole.
The Data Analytics Staff Auditor is part of the Professional Practices Group within Internal Audit. The Data Analytics team obtains data from the various Bank systems and analyzes the data for different audit projects. In addition, the team builds data scripts to analyze data and builds dashboards as part of our continuous auditing initiative.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying, designing and developing data analytics routines to support audit activities performed by the Internal Audit team.
- Create repeatable data analytics to support continuous audit monitoring programs.
- Periodically perform audit tests of controls by obtaining and analyzing audit evidence, preparing audit workpapers, evaluating test results, and drawing conclusions on the adequacy and effectiveness of controls.
- Address issues during the internal audit process by gathering facts, developing potential solutions, determining the best solutions, and implementing an action plan to solve the problem.
- Make recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
- Follow up to determine that approved recommendations in audit reports are instituted and complied with by departments.
- Assist outside auditors as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s in business, mathematics, computer science, or management information systems
- 0-2+ years of data analysis experience in audit, financial, risk management, or technology functions.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, data-intuition, and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in data analytics techniques.
- A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
- Professional certification (CISA, CPA, CIA or equivalent) preferred.
- Working knowledge to identify, design and develop data analytics routines to support audit activities performed by the Internal Audit team.
- Solid understanding to maintain an effective system of data analytics and models which provide enhanced insight into risks and controls, establishes an efficient/automated means to analyze and test large volumes of data for outliers, anomalies, patterns, and trends, and helps evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of controls.
- Strong working knowledge to create repeatable data analytics to support continuous audit monitoring programs.
- Solid analysis, problem resolution and communication skills, both verbal and written. Solid time and project management skills.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Solid interpersonal, organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Strong working knowledge of pc software.
- Full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
