This role manages all technology aspects within the assigned portfolio, develops technology strategy in collaboration with business stakeholders, and mitigates risk through cost-effective solutions and efficient operations. You will oversee a team of specialized software engineers, delivering scalable, high-quality solutions across in-house and vendor platforms, and ensure compliance and operational risk controls. Role Overview
The Senior Technology Manager role sits within the enterprise technology organization and serves as the senior capital markets derivatives technology leader responsible for the sales and trading technology platforms, architecture, and delivery. The role shapes the technology strategy and execution for trading, risk, and post-trade systems. The role requires significant experience managing complex vendor ecosystems, including product partnerships, systems architecture design, and maintaining quality relationships with market technology providers at Nasdaq (Calypso) and Ion Trading (Spectrum).
You will lead a small team of implementation specialists delivering scalable, high‑quality solutions across both in‑house and vendor platforms while ensuring strong operational controls, platform resilience, and adherence to regulatory and risk expectations. This role will oversee platform engineering, application development, infrastructure alignment, and production support, ensuring consistent delivery of high‑performance, low‑latency, and highly reliable trading systems. This role is expected to partner with Capital Markets leadership, the Business Enablement team, and enterprise Technology functions to deliver a scalable, resilient, and well-governed FX technology stack aligned with business growth, regulatory expectations, and long-term architectural standards. through cost‑effective, well‑governed solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic thought leadership in delivering technology strategies and solutions that support business objectives.
- Provide leadership for FX platform strategy, accountability for platform architecture, delivery execution, and operational resilience
- Lead modernization efforts, including replacement of legacy FX systems. applying new technologies and practices to transform platforms and improve security, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Own strategic vendor relationships for capital markets platforms. Provide oversight of delivery performance, technology design, and long-term platform viability.
- Design, architect, and implement effective, high-quality solutions.
- Manage delivery according to timelines and budgetary constraints.
- Effectively lead a team of software engineers and DevOps professionals, setting performance expectations and providing technical guidance and coaching.
- Foster a customer-focused, high-performing, and inclusive team culture.
- Communicate vision, values, and business strategy to team and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal technology groups to ensure solutions meet evolving business requirements and align with organizational standards and best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with technology partners, management, and business stakeholders.
- Oversee departmental budgets, vendor management, and adherence to financial, risk, and regulatory processes.
Qualifications
- 18+ years of directly related experience in capital markets sales and trading platforms and infrastructure10+ years of progressive software development and IT experience, including management of high-performance teams.
- Proven experience managing large technology projects and building complex solutions.
- Capital markets knowledge and architecture experience.
- 8+ years of experience with Java.
- Extensive Experience with high-availability messaging and event driven middleware— including (IBM MQ, Kafka, Redis) to ensure deterministic data delivery guarantees for real-time capital markets workflows
- Experience with real-time, high-availability, and low-latency systems.
- Experience with RDBMS systems (Oracle, MySQL).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for stakeholder relations and cross-functional teamwork.
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Business Management, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience integrating or decommissioning Calypso (Naddaq)trading platform paired with a proven ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with platform vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Hands‑on experience with integration, migration, or decommissioning of Spectrum/ION or equivalent FX trading platforms, including upstream and downstream connectivity across front‑to‑back trade lifecycles
- 4+ years of prior Calypso hands on development experience
- Experience modernizing legacy capital markets platforms and operating models at scale
Location:
- This position can be located 100% remote within the United States or fully in office (5 days a week) if you are within 50 miles of the Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
Pay Range:
- $200,000 - $220,000 $ (Based upon relatable skills/experience)
