Zions Bancorporation, N.A. is currently seeking a highly qualified professional for the role of a Fair Lending Compliance Officer to support the Fair Lending Compliance Team. The Fair Lending Compliance Officer (“Compliance Officer”) is responsible for performing periodic fair lending monitoring of the bank’s portfolios, support key areas of the Fair Lending Program.  Candidates should possess strong loan underwriting and pricing investigative skills. In addition to having strong investigative skills, the Compliance Officer must also have strong communication skills to partner with business unit managers and others for the file review process. The Compliance Officer assumes other responsibilities as assigned and reports to the Compliance Analytics and Fair Lending Manager.  This position is located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Complete periodic fair lending reviews (underwriting, pricing, marketing, steering, etc.) to evaluate the bank’s level of compliance with fair lending laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Working knowledge of consumer/mortgage credit, credit reports, lending and underwriting concepts, practices and procedures. 
  • Ability to review and analyze income, assets, credit documentation, credit reports, debt ratios and loan to value information.
  • Maintain adequate work papers to support observations and findings.
  • Support, implement, and monitor key areas of the fair lending program and other areas of compliance to ensure that all areas of the Bank are complying with applicable laws, regulations and safety requirements.
  • Monitor and validate business unit controls, metrics, reports, and procedures.
  • Prepare clear and concise written reports that identify and explain root cause of any regulatory issues or violations of Bank policies/procedures.
  • Assist in preparing for successful compliance tests, internal audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Oversee the receipt and distribution of regulations and regulatory correspondence throughout the company and assure that actions required by regulations are implemented by management.
  • Give feedback to compliance data analysts in establishing controls for data quality and fair lending model output quality.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and skills through the completion of continuing education and training.
  • Develop and maintain open, productive working relationships with colleagues across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Experience as a loan officer, underwriter, originator, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 0-2+ yrs in banking/financial services regulatory compliance, auditing or other directly related experience. 
  • A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of fair lending regulations.
  • Working knowledge of banking/financial regulatory compliance, compliance testing, auditing, financial principles, and regulatory issues. 
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Strong research, project management, organizational, analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Must be results oriented and able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
